Canberra Genetic Counselling was co-founded by Shelley Kennedy and Belinda Dopita.  Both Shelley and Belinda are trained genetic counsellors and are active members of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA).  They are experienced genetic counsellors committed to the provision of quality patient-centred care.

Belinda Dopita trained as a genetic counsellor in Melbourne and has a Masters degree in Genetic Counselling.  She worked at the Centre for Human Genetics in Boston, USA, where she specialised in prenatal genetic screening and diagnosis.  After returning to Australia, she worked at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, with a special interest in prenatal and neurogenetics.  She has been working at The ACT Genetics Service since 2007.   With a background in psychology, Belinda has a particular interest in prenatal screening and diagnosis as well as genetic counselling of children and young adults.
